Welcome to Chinchillas by the Bay!

Hi there and welcome to the home of Chinchillas by the Bay. My name is Joyce AKA: "The Chinchilla Lady". Our family has lived here in Virginia Beach since 1989. Previous to this we have lived in Chapel Hill, NC and Pittsburgh, PA. We are animal lovers and at this point I feel like we have had one of everything! Currently we are owned by 40 chinchillas, 5 cats and 4 dogs. The family was bitten by the "chinchilla bug" about 6 years ago when our daughters each got a chinchilla for a pet. The rest is history! We all fell in love with these wonderful fuzzy critters and our herd went from 2 to almost "40" in 6 years. All of the chins you will meet on my herd page are our personal pets. Some we have purchased from breeders and have pedigrees, but most are rescues that we have taken in and kept to stay here in their forever home. Many are chins with special needs. I do receive calls frequently from people that need to re- home their chins. I also hear from shelters that have gotten chinchillas in. Chins available for adoption will be posted on our site and can change from day to day. The more popular these fuzzies become the more there are out there for surrender and adoption. I am very dedicated to these critters and to working with families that need to surrender their animals as well as families that are looking to adopt. My goal is to find excellent, loving & forever homes for those chinchillas out there needing them. Also, to work with adoptive families and educate them to properly care for their chinchillas.
